(KFVS) - The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers announced it will waive day-use fees for veterans, active and reserve component service members and their families at more than 2,400 recreation area nation-wide on Veterans Day.

4-H Day with the Rams

4-H Day with the Rams

BENTON, IL (KFVS) - 4-H members, alumni, and their families are invited to participate in the 2011 4-H Day with the Rams.

It will take place on Sunday, December 18th, 2011 at the Edward Jones Dome in St. Louis. The Rams will take on the Cincinnati Bengals at noon. Tickets are $40 each, which is a $15 discount on regular ticket prices.

Each ticket comes with a $10 voucher for food and drinks at the dome as well as a 4-H day with the Rams souvenir t-shirt. For orders of 10 or more tickets, each person receives an additional $10 food and drink voucher.

There are a limited number of seats available, for 4-H families are encouraged to order tickets soon.

Rend Lake fishing report for the week of 10/3

BENTON, IL (KFVS) - The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers has released the Rend Lake fishing report for the week of Oct. 3.

Largemouth Bass

  • Rating - Good
  • Bait of choice - Worms, rattle traps, jig&trailer, spinner baits, square bill crank baits
  • Suggested locations - Fish in shallow bays near brush cover and bushes. Fish around bridges and along the rocks. Fish being caught in 4-6 ft. of water on the main lake
  • Regulations - 14" minimum length limit, 6 daily creel limit, 1 fish daily creel limit in ponds 14" minimum length

Crappie

  • Rating - Good
  • Bait of choice - Fish with medium and small minnows. Quarter-ounce pink and white tub jigs
  • Suggested locations - Fish are in the deep water. Fish 2-16 ft. deep over brush and on edges of water.
