BENTON, IL (KFVS) - The Corps of Engineers was instructed to close all USACE-operated campgrounds and day-use areas at Rend Lake on October 1.
However, many activities are still available to visitors to Rend Lake. The water and lands around Rend Lake are still open to use.
Officials at Rend Lake say Wayne Fitzgerrell State Park will remain open throughout the government shut down offering camping, a section of the Rend Lake Bike Trail, boat ramps, and the famous Rend Lake Resort.
The water and land at Rend Lake is still open for use of the visitors during the government shut down.
Access to the lake is available at several boat ramps in the Wayne Fitzgerrell State Park. More boat ramps outside of the State Park include the Rend Lake Conservancy District Boat Ramp located at Route 154 and Gun Creek Trail and several boat ramps in the northern section of the lake that are managed by the Illinois Department of Natural Resources.
