City of Sesser may be refused water service

SESSER, IL (KFVS) - The city of Sesser has refused to pay Inter-City Water for $5,000 worth of water per month since July 2009 according to Rend Lake Conservancy District.

The city has also refused to pay interest and penalties for late payments. The conservancy district says they have tried everything, short of stopping service, to collect the past due balances.

The district is assuming that water customers of the city are paying their bills and the ones that don't have had their service shut off. It leaves them wondering where the money the city has collected from customers and not paid to Inter-City has gone.

According to the district, the past due balances now exceed $115,000. The Board of Directors of Rend Lake Conservancy District therefore voted on January 24, 2011 to refuse water service to the City of Sesser.
