3 injured after car crash on IL Rt. 37

FRANKLIN COUNTY, IL (KFVS) - Three people were injured in a crash Monday afternoon on IL Route 37 at Logan Street.

According to the Illinois State Patrol, a red 2005 Ford Focus, driven by 67-year-old Shirley M. Riley from Marion, was going northbound on IL Rt. 37 near Logan Road south of West Frankfort and a gray 2013 Hyundai Sonata, driven by 65-year-old Thomas H. Steenson, was going southbound.

Police say Riley's car left the road on the right and she over corrected and came back onto the road into the path of Steenson's car. The Ford Focus hit the left, front corner and side of the Hyundai Sonata.

They say both drivers and Steenson's passenger, 64-year-old Mollie S. Steenson from Johnston City, were taken to Herrin Hospital with unknown injuries.

ISP says Riley was charged with improper lane usage.
