WEST FRANKFORT, IL (KFVS)- After a fire destroyed part of Candy Cane Lane during the holidays, a West Frankfort community came together Sunday to help rebuild.
The efforts to begin at the Moose Lodge Sunday afternoon, as a West Frankfort hometown war hero Chaz Ligon took the stage to play the Star Spangled Banner.
Organizers teamed up with local businesses and musicians to keep Candy Cane Lane's lights glowing for years to come.
"It's an honor to perform the Star Spangled Banner; it's the most important song I know," said Ligon."I play guitar-I love it. It's still the most important song to me. It's great Mr. Murphy is an art teacher. It's great getting to do this for him and raise some money for Candy Cane Lane."
The funds from Sundays jam will be used to buy a security system to help protect Candy Cane Lane in the future.
