(KFVS) - The Rend Lake Conservancy District had a break in their main feeder line around 3 p.m. on Monday, just east of their plant.
According to their attorney, Larry Sanders, the water district had the line repaired by 6 p.m. Monday. He said they don't know exactly what caused the break in the line, but there was construction work going on in the area when the line broke.
Sanders said that line feeds to 30 communities who in turn sell that water again to an additional 30 communities. He said this boil water order is affecting somewhere between 150,000 to 200,000 people.
According to Sanders, samples have been taken of the water in the line on Monday and again on Tuesday. The water district expects to have the results back from the lab on or before Thursday. Sanders said at which time if they get an all clear, the boil water order for their customers will be lifted.
