WEST FRANKFORT, IL (KFVS)- West Frankfort Police arrested a man accused of robbing a convenience store, restaurant, and burglarizing another restaurant overnight.
Jacob L. Ingersoll, 26, of Marseilles, Ill. is charged with two counts of armed robbery, burglary, attempted burglary, and possession of a controlled substance with intent to distribute.
West Frankfort Police were called to the Huck's Store at 208 N. Logan Street at 11:36 p.m. Wednesday. A Huck's employee told police a white, male came into the store with a bandana on his head. The man went to the rear of the store and placed another bandana over his face. He then approached the clerk with a knife and demanded money. Police say the man took money from the store and left.
Then, a few hours later, police were called at 2:42 a.m. to the Hardees Store for a robbery. Employees said a white, male with a bandana on his head and face entered the rear door of the business. The man had a knife and demanded money. The suspect then left the business.
Less than two hours later, police were called to Miranda's Restaurant for an alarm at 4:20 a.m. Officers found a storage shed at the rear of the business had been broken into and the rear door of the main building had been severely pried in an attempt to gain access.
Police went to 509 N. Gardner Street in West Frankfort at 4:47 a.m. and found Ingersoll. Police recovered a knife and clothing that were consistent with what was used in the robberies. A substantial amount of controlled substance was recovered.
Illinois State Police Crime Scene units responded to 509 N. Gardner and processed the scenes for evidence. West Frankfort Police Chief Jeff Tharp says the work of the West Frankfort dispatch center proved valuable in the identification of Ingersoll.
Ingersoll was taken to the Franklin County Jail.
