EMA encourages Illinoians to participate in 'ShakeOut' | Events

FRANKLIN COUNTY, IL (KFVS) -  Franklin County Emergency Management Agency has joined with the Illinois EMA to encourage Illinoisans to participate in the Great Central U.S. ShakeOut on February 7, 2013.

The event begins at 10:15 a.m. The drill will be conducted with other states in the Central U.S. to draw attention to earthquake hazards.

This year's ShakeOut coincides with the 201st anniversary of the 1812 earthquake near New Madrid, Missouri.

According to Franklin County EMA, last year, more than 2.4 million people across the region participated in the drill, and more than 496,000 were Illinoisans.
