WEST FRANKFORT, IL (KFVS) - The Night's Shield Children's Shelter will be hosting a free concert and balloon walk in effort to raise awareness about child abuse prevention Sunday, April 29 from 4 p.m. to 9 p.m. at West Frankfort City Park.
Musicians, As We Are and Heather Hammers, will be playing on the park's stage starting at 4. Friends are encouraged to bring lawn chairs and blankets and enjoy the music and other activities.
As a result of child abuse, neglect or abandonment, children arrive at The Night's Shield to be kept safe and be cared for while foster care is arranged. The Night's Shield's primary goal is to keep sibling groups together during this time.
April has been declared National Child Abuse Prevention Month and the color of blue has been awarded it's awareness color. After a moment of silence for child abuse victims, friends and music-goers will have the opportunity to show their support and encourage awareness by taking a short walk around the park with blue balloons.
