2 teens arrested in connection with bomb threat at Zeigler school

FRANKLIN COUNTY, IL (KFVS) - Two teens have been arrested after bomb threat investigation at Zeigler-Royalton High School

Franklin County Sheriff Donald R. Jones says deputies responded to a bomb threat at the Zeigler-Royalton High School on Friday, April 26 at 8:21 a.m. School personnel, Franklin County deputies and a K-9 unit from the Illinois Secretary of State Police searched the school for an explosive device.

According to Jones, the student body had been relocated to a position of safety by school personnel. No explosive device was found.

Darrell B. Dalton, 17, from Royalton and Zachary T. Barnett, 17, from Christopher were arrested in connection with the investigation.

BENTON, IL (KFVS)  -  A federal grand jury in Benton, Illinois, has charged 17 individuals with methamphetamine related offenses, the United States Attorney for the Southern District of Illinois, Stephen R. Wigginton, announced Wednesday.

Harrisburg man accused of trying to choke police officer

WEST FRANKFORT, IL (KFVS) - A Harrisburg man faces battery charges after reportedly trying to choke a West Frankfort police officer.

Virgil O. Hammersley, 50, of Harrisburg, Illinois, was charged Thursday with aggravated battery to a police officer, resisting a police officer and driving while license revoked.

Shortly before 7:30 p.m. Thursday, the West Frankfort Police Department says they received a 911 call saying a man, later identified as Hammersley, was allegedly beating up a female in the parking lot of the Boomerangs tavern.

Police say the caller told officers that Hammersley's vehicle was leaving the parking lot and provided a vehicle description and direction of travel.  A responding officer found the vehicle and made a traffic stop in the 1000 block of East Main Street.

Two Franklin Co. teens accused of mail theft

FRANKLIN COUNTY, IL (KFVS)  Two Franklin County teens are accused of mail theft.

Ashley Tottlebein, 17 of Zeigler, and Laney Lambert, 17 of West Frankfort, were charged with felony theft after being caught with numerous items of missing mail in their vehicle.

Franklin County Sheriff Don Jones says a resident tipped police off about the mail thefts.

On Saturday, January 6, Jones says officers spotted and pulled over a car that matched the description in the theft. They say the girls were found with numerous items of mail in the car.

Both girls were taken to the  Franklin County Jail and bond set at $750. Jones says Tottlebein has since bonded out.

According to Sheriff Jones, the thefts occurred  in Franklin and Williamson County. He says some of the mail has been recovered.

2 brothers accused of stealing more than $30,000 worth of metal

WEST FRANKFORT, IL (KFVS) - Two brothers are accused in the theft of more than $30,000 worth of metal pieces from Coal Age Industrial in West Frankfort.

Coal Age Industrial reported large pieces of metal that had been fabricated into parts for us in the coal mining industray were missing beginning in mid-December.

The West Frankfort Police Department was able to recover video evidence from where the thefts occured. Police conducted several hours of mobile and static surveillances.

Ronald R. Pullium Jr., 24, of Johnston City was arrested on January 3 as he went to city hall to have water services provided to a home.

Police are still looking for Steven A. Pullium, 22, of Johnston City.

CAI estimates the loss in fabricated parts to be worth more than $30,000. Police say all the stolen parts were sold at area salvage yards.

Sheriff's office looking for helping identifying suspect in business break-in

FRANKLIN COUNTY, IL (KFVS) - The Franklin County Sheriff's Office received a complaint Monday, November 19 from the Rt. 37 Recycling Center of an unknown subject breaking into the business and entering the office.

The sheriff's office says they got a copy of the business' video surveillance system from that night and was able to get still photos of the suspect.

The recycling center is located at 7533 Rt. 37, just south of Benton, Ill.
