IEMA launches updated Ready Illinois website

(KFVS) - The Illinois Emergency Management Agency recently launched an updated Ready Illinois website to help connect people with information they need to be prepared for many types of emergencies.

You can click here to visit the updated site.

“The Ready Illinois website is a ‘one-stop shop’ for information on what to do before, during and after a disaster,” said IEMA Director Jonathon Monken. “Since the website was first launched in 2007, more than half a million people have turned to Ready Illinois for disaster preparedness-related information. This revision will help them find needed emergency preparedness information more quickly.”

IDES: Federal Emergency Unemployment will end for 90,000 people

IDES: Federal Emergency Unemployment will end for 90,000 people

(KFVS) - The Illinois Department of Employment Security recently announced an estimated 90,000 people who worked in Illinois will no longer receive unemployment insurance when the federal Emergency Unemployment Compensation ends December 29.

IDES says the state's Regular Unemployment program continues.

They say once the EUC program ends, an additional 2,800 individuals each week will complete the regular state unemployment insurance program and not have access to the federal EUC. Every $1 in unemployment insurance generates $1.63 in economic activity because the dollars are quickly spent at neighborhood businesses.

Labor Council, Kroger raises $22,500 for Southern Ill. counties

(KFVS) - As part of the annual food drive, the Southern Illinois Central Labor Council has raised $15,000 to support food pantries in 16 Southern Illinois counties.

As in previous years, the council says Kroger matched 50 percent, bringing the total to $22,500.

“Kroger is proud to once again give back to our community during this holiday season, said District Manager Gina Sherland. “Efforts to end hunger in the communities where we operate stores has long been Kroger’s top charitable initiative. It is an honor for us to partner with the Labor Council Local 881, to help restock the food pantries during this time of year.”

The donated product will be delivered by Kroger on Saturday, Dec. 8 to the Operating Engineers Hall located at 3310 Water Tower Rd. Starting at 8 a.m., volunteers will transfer the product to trucks for delivery to the various food pantries.
