FRANKLIN COUNTY, IL (KFVS) - A project commissioned by the Illinois Terrorism Task Force and the Illinois Emergency Management Agency was designed to teach children disaster preparedness and response strategies using a video game.
"The Day the Earth Shook" was developed by the Electronic Visualization Lab at the University of Illinois at Chicago, the National Center for Supercomputing Applications and the Center for Public Safety and Justice- Institute of Government and Public Affairs at the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign.
The game focuses on preparing for an earthquake like one that could occur along the New Madrid or Wabash Valley Seismic Zones in Southern Illinois.
